eVISA for Malaysia for Indian Passport Holders

Malaysia offers eVISA options for countries that are not eligible for visa-exempt entry.

We are from India but currently reside in Spain, one of the Southern European countries.

Possessing an Indian passport and a Spanish Permanent Residency card, if this situation applies to you, you can proceed with reading this article.

Our intention is to travel to Malaysia, prompting us to reach out via email to the Malaysian Embassy in Madrid to ascertain the procedure for obtaining a Malaysian VISA stamp for our passports.

They advised us to apply for an eVISA specifically tailored for tourism.

Subsequently, we conducted an online search to locate the official website of the Malaysian government (https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa/evisa.jsp) in order to familiarize ourselves with the step-by-step procedure for applying for the eVISA.

The sequential process we followed is as follows:

1.- Access the official website of the Malaysian government using the provided link (https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa/evisa.jsp).

2.- Click on the option: "I am New, Apply."

3.- Register yourself by providing your name, passport number, nationality, birthdate, email address for communication purposes, and other required details.

4.- Following registration, an email containing an activation link will be sent to you.

5.- Once your account is activated, you can log in using your email and password, granting access to your dashboard.

6.- On the dashboard, you will find sections where you need to input your personal details and sections for document uploads. The documents we uploaded included:
  • A recent colored photo with a white background. Upload.
  • A scanned copy of the first page of your passport, which displays your name, passport issue date, etc. Upload.
  • * Detailed and specific instructions about photo and passport can be found by clicking the upload button. Adhering strictly to these instructions is crucial to avoid rejection.
  • A copy of your bank statements showing your financial activity over the past few months. We downloaded a certificate through online banking, which displayed our name and bank account number as evidence of ownership. Additionally, we downloaded a four-month transaction history, depicting both incoming and outgoing funds. These two documents were merged into a single PDF file and uploaded.
  • Proof of return flight ticket booking. Upload. (You Can Book One)
  • Budget-Friendly Air Ticket for Malaysia

  • Proof of hotel booking. Upload. (You Can Book One)
  • Budget-Friendly Accommodations in Malaysia

  • As an additional upload, we included our Spanish Residency Card to demonstrate our residence in Spain, despite holding an Indian Passport. Upload.
After thoroughly reviewing the information provided and the documents uploaded, we proceeded by clicking the "Next" button. They provide us the tool for cropping and adjusting the photo as required by the application.

Next button directed us to the payment page, where we paid the eVISA fees using our credit card.

Then it is provided us to read our application thoroughly and if there is any correction, we can do by clicking on edit button.

Finally, we clicked the "Submit" button to finalize our eVISA application.

Soon after, we received an email confirming the receipt of our eVISA application.

The email stated that the UK branch was processing our eVISA, and a response would be provided within 48 hours.

It was advised to check the SPAM folder during this period for any email communication.

Within the 48-hour timeframe, we received an email requesting an amendment to the submitted information.

Specifically, as our passport was issued by the Madrid office of the Indian Embassy, the passport issue location needed to be corrected to "Madrid" instead of "New Delhi."

After making the correction, we resubmitted the application.

Within the next 24 hours, we received another email containing links to download our issued eVISA for Malaysia.

We downloaded our eVISA for Malaysia. It was issued for 3 months Single Entry VISA.

We printed our eVISA maintaining its originality (Colour print) using a printer

In conclusion, assuming no further amendments are required, the entire process typically results in the issuance of the eVISA within 48 hours.
